New image for Tent Revival. This is the planned book cover. I never really had much of an idea of what I wanted this to look like but put it together piece by piece. The book itself now stands at 56000 words and counting. It’s the biggest project I’ve worked on to date.
I started Tent Revival with the idea to place a crazy scenario in a small town. The town is in Kentucky. At first, it was to be a specific town, but as I wrote I found myself writing it as if I were in my own town. So, I felt the need to make the town fictional and play off the things and people who make a small town what it is. The gossip and the social interactions. Little oddities no one else would get unless you’re from there. It all makes for some interesting banter. It’s also character rich.
The project basically got too big for me and I had to stop. Now, by drawing this picture and from others who have told me they like the story, I’m ready to jump back in. I’m going to break it into pieces and see each scene for a stand-alone. I think this will keep me from getting lost. I’m having fun writing it so far. I hope I don’t get lost again. I don’t think it will happen. I need to finish this or it will eat me alive!
Drawing images like this help me to envision my characters and get recharged. I still need to complete some fine tuning on this until it’s completely ready. But the book itself has a ways to go. I’m sure it will be rewritten and edited several times before it’s ready to go. In the meantime, I’m working on a short story collection too. It will be out before Tent Revival as it has already been edited. Enjoy viewing this picture and be ready for more to come. Thanks for checking it out.
