Does anyone remember the Showtime series The Masters of Horror? I started watching it again the other day and fell in love again. One of my favorite episodes is ‘Incident On and Off a Mountain Road’. It’s based on a short story by Joe R. Lansdale, and it delivers some of the best horror you’ll find. Suspense is at a premium in this one. A girl is abducted by a serial killer, but because of her survivalist training, she can turn the tables on him. We find in the end she may not be as innocent as we thought.
Another is ‘Pick Me Up’ based on the story by David Schow and directed by Larry Cohen. This one is a serial killer free for all. A bus breaks down and the people are left on the side of the road; easy pickings for a pair of killers looking for a good time. We soon find out the pair are trying to outdo each other. They seemingly meet their match with the last victim of the doomed bus. But in the end, all meet their fate at the hands of other crazies lurking about. This one also stars Fairuza Balk who is well known in horror movie circles.
There are also shows based on HP Lovecraft’s tale ‘Dreams in the Witch-House’ and Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Black Cat’. One of my personal favorites is ‘The Dance of the Dead’, based on a short story by Richard Matheson the writer of I Am Legend. It’s a post-apocalyptic tale, with a new take on the zombie trope. He wrote the story years ago before zombies were as popular as they are today. Directed by the legendary Tobe Hooper, and starring Robert Englund and many others, this one is one of the craziest stories I’ve ever seen. If you get the chance to check out the series, playing for free on the Roku channel, by the way, it will be well worth your time. Now, on to reading. My short prequel story is still available at the link below. I found out the other day, people were having problems accessing it from my website. I’m happy to announce it’s fixed now and can be accessed from there as well.

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a prequel to the current novel and will give some more insight into some of the best characters in Tent Revival. My hope is, you’ll be engrossed with the world of the Rebecca Mythos as much as I am.
You can also check out some more great reads here, including my story. These are all free-to-read offerings, so check them out.

My buddy, Justin Boote has a new one out too. you should check it out, you won’t be sorry.

It’s the first in a trilogy I read a few years back, critiquing for The Write Practice. He’s polished it up and now it’s in book form. Don’t miss it.
Thank you all for being here with me and remember to always spend time getting lost in a good book. Charlie the book dog is crazy about this one.
